Athens School of Fine Art - Called Back - final project 2010

Called back includes drawings, video and installation and is related to the American poet Emily Dickinson. The installation is an attempt to experience incarceration and release. The visitor walks on a very narrow corridor covered with black fur, when entering the corridor he no longer has any acoustic contact with the external environment, a recurring "metallic sound" is activated that stops only when he leaves the corridor. The visitor does not have the option to leave from the door he/she came in. When opening the exit door, he/she sees opposite the neon sign called back. The phrase called back is carved in Dickinson's grave and has an ambiguous meaning, it is the return to earth, the ground and/or the recall of the spirit of Dickinson through her oeuvre. This installation is the artist's attempt to "call her back".
